We are an established but growing team at Epic, aiming to build fun & engaging new experiences as part of our collaboration with Lego. In this role, you will work with the development teams to create the gameplay UI across the different initiatives and partner with the UI/UX Director and Lead UI Artist to establish the look and feel for this exciting new project. You will generate wireframes, documentation, and prototypes to create well-thought-out features and systems. You will then work with a multidisciplinary team to ship these features to create a memorable experience for our players across a large range of platforms.
In this role, you will:
- Work collaboratively with UX Design, Tech UI Design, and Programming to create AAA-quality UI experiences
- Actively participate in the creation and implementation of design systems, game menus, HUD elements, Iconography, UI materials and shaders, UI animation, and motion design
- Create new material effects, implement basic logic in blueprints, and/or create 2D effects
- Contribute to shipping high-quality features on time
- Collaborate with the greater UX/UI Department to ensure consistency and quality are maintained across the project
- Execute at a high-quality bar, work autonomously, and tackle complex features and systems
- Work in Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Figma to create concept UI art
What weβre looking for:
- You have 7+ years of experience working collaboratively to see complex UI features through to completion across multiple platforms (mobile, pc, consoles)
- You have 7+ years of experience working in Agile environments and on multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent visual design skills with a strong portfolio
- You are skilled with Figma, Adobe Suite, or other comparable software
- A strong portfolio of work showcasing your skills and your process
- Experience with UI Art implementation, in Unreal Engine (UMG) or equivalent game engine
- Experience with building UI materials & shaders for game engines, or equivalent 3D packages and FX tools; motion design & UI animation, preferably for games or interaction design
- You have the ability to see features through to completion and rapidly modify work as information changes
- You have a passion for making and playing games and have a strong sense of player empathy
- You are a proactive individual who naturally leans into owning outcomes and is able to deal with ambiguity well and adapt to changes of plan quickly
