As part of Local Solutions, Liverpool Carers Centre delivers a city-wide community-based programme of activities and training that ensures a range of support is available to unpaid carers in Liverpool. This focuses on helping to reduce the negative impact of the caring role and promotes carers’ health and wellbeing. As well as undertaking carers assessments, their Carers Centre also offers a flexible support service that provides impartial advice & information. They work closely with other organisations and services to help achieve this. They offer a range of weekly and monthly activities and training throughout the year at the Carers Centre or at one of their community-based outreach hubs.

Job Summary

As a member of the Liverpool Carers Centre team, you will work with unpaid carers to support them to access practical and emotional support. As a Carers Development Worker, you will aid in empowering carers to take control of their own health and wellbeing. You will give time and focus on what matters to me philosophy and take a holistic approach to connect carers to community groups and statutory services.

Core responsibilities of the role will be:

  • To support carers through the Carers Assessment process. This will be achieved in a variety of ways, e.g., visiting carers in their own homes when appropriate or elsewhere to offer support. The role is based predominantly in the community with home visits being the primary method of contact.
  • Completing Carers Support Plans with carers using a person-centred approach.
  • Providing carers with information regarding the range of services available for carers and how to access them.
  • Completing and submitting carers support plans in a timely fashion to ensure departmental KPIs are achieved.
  • Liaising with colleagues in statutory services. You will be an energetic and solution-focused worker who will support carers to access the most appropriate services to support them in their caring role.
  • Working throughout the city, you will develop relationships that help and support unpaid carers while being a main enabler for holistic solutions.

Experience:

  • Experience of working in health or social care.
  • Experience of supporting unpaid carers or working with people.
  • Experience of working as part of a team but the ability to prioritise own workload, manage own diary, and build relationships with both carers and professionals, management databases, and inputting information.
  • Technical expertise should include the ability to use Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • The successful candidate will require an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Check and undertake mandatory safeguarding training as appropriate for the role.
  • Travel is required, so a car owner/driver is essential as this is a city-wide post.
