Job Purpose: To oversee the daily operations of the transport department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of goods. The role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and in-depth knowledge of ADR (Carriage of Dangerous Goods) and CPC regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of drivers and transport staff.
- Ensure full compliance with ADR regulations for the transport of hazardous materials.
- Monitor driver CPC compliance and training schedules.
- Plan and optimise delivery routes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Conduct regular vehicle and driver audits to ensure safety and legal compliance.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Investigate and resolve transport-related issues, including delays, accidents, and complaints.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and transport documentation.
- Support the Transport Manager in strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld across all transport operations.
Requirements:
- Valid ADR certification (desirable but needs to have experience)
- Valid Driver CPC qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a transport or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation.
