Health & Safety Manager (3 month FTC), London

This role involves developing and promoting Fortnum’s health and safety (H&S) strategies, ensuring compliance with legislation, managing H&S training, inspections, audits, and incident investigations, and fostering a positive H&S culture within the organization. The manager will also oversee H&S projects, liaise with stakeholders, and manage third-party contractors to maintain high standards.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and supporting H&S strategies
• Monitoring legislative changes and updating practices accordingly
• Providing guidance and representing the organization externally
• Managing the H&S committee and related groups
• Ensuring certification and compliance with risk management strategies
• Coordinating H&S training, inspections, audits, and incident investigations
• Leading H&S projects and managing maintenance activities
• Ensuring facilities meet statutory and environmental standards
• Acting as the primary contact for H&S issues and engaging stakeholders
• Identifying opportunities for H&S improvements and managing third-party contractors

Technical requirements:

• Relevant health and safety qualifications, including Fire Warden and First Aid
• Ability to analyze complex H&S situations and communicate solutions effectively
• Proactive in staying updated with H&S legislation and practices
• Strong collaboration skills and technical governance knowledge
• Understanding of retail environment requirements
