Mode Search is supporting our client with the appointment of Head of Retail Operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and design-led business. The role is based in the UK and involves regular travel across the national store network. Reporting into the Sales Director, the Head of Retail Operations will oversee the performance, systems, and growth of the store estate, managing two Cluster Managers and playing a central role in optimising retail operations, people development, and profitability.

The Role

  • Lead operational performance across all existing stores while overseeing the launch of new concession sites.
  • Manage and support two Cluster Managers, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and day-to-day retail excellence.
  • Deliver against key KPIs focused on conversion, profit, and commercial performance across the store portfolio.
  • Empower Store Managers to make dynamic, data-led commercial decisions, including local pricing adjustments.
  • Design and implement training and development plans to uplift capability and consistency across store teams.
  • Own the maintenance function and operational systems for the retail estate, ensuring smooth, cost-effective performance.
  • Analyse data to drive decisions on retail performance, resource allocation, and store-level improvements.
  • Build a structured, detail-oriented retail operations model that supports scale and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align retail operations with broader business goals.
  • Drive a customer-first culture while ensuring processes, systems, and teams are optimised to deliver excellence.

Requirements

  • Proven senior experience in multi-site retail operations, preferably with exposure to both standalone stores and concessions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and expertise in retail KPIs, conversion tracking, and profitability management.
  • Track record of launching new stores/concessions and managing related operational rollouts.
  • Highly skilled in performance analysis, systems thinking, and continuous operational improvement.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, ideally with direct reports in multi-site roles.
  • Adept at balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a solutions-focused, proactive mindset.
  • Passionate about retail and customer experience, with the ability to translate commercial goals into operational action.
  • Flexibility to travel across the UK as required.
