About the Client

Our client is a prominent government agency sponsored by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). As a data enabler for the public sector, they provide crucial insights and support to a wide range of national and international operations. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Risk & Governance Manager to enhance the agency's risk management and governance processes.

Role Overview

This is a technical leadership role requiring expertise in risk management frameworks, governance processes, and compliance systems. You will lead the development and implementation of robust risk management strategies, drive continuous improvement, and ensure governance processes are adhered to at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of risk management strategies and ensure processes are followed effectively across the organisation.
  • Oversee risk reporting, ensuring the escalation and mitigation of risks are managed in alignment with corporate and business planning objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise in governance, risk, and compliance, ensuring alignment with best practice standards and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Regularly report on risk-related issues to senior leadership, ensuring all risks are well understood and mitigated in line with the organisation's goals.
  • Maintain and update risk management policies and processes, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Defence (MoD) and relevant policies.

Specific Technical/Functional Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • IRM Enterprise Risk Management professional qualification is essential for this role.
  • Strong experience in risk management, with the ability to implement and oversee risk management frameworks in a complex organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management policies and processes, with an understanding of a MOD risk policy/process (JSP892) as an advantage.
  • Excellent report writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to create high-quality, detailed reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organisation, from frontline staff to executive-level directors, ensuring effective communication and risk management processes.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a strong ability to prioritise multiple projects, manage deadlines, and ensure the completion of all required tasks to a high standard.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a public sector or government environment.
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks and compliance standards relevant to public sector operations.
