We are seeking a dedicated Year 5/6 Teacher to join our team at our school. This role is ideal for a compassionate educator who is committed to providing high-quality education and support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Day-to-day of the role:
Teaching and Learning:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of Year 5/6 students with SEMH needs.

Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.

Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
Classroom Management:
-
Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.

Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and address challenging behaviours.

Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and high expectations.
Pastoral Care:

Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them develop resilience and coping skills.

Work closely with the school’s pastoral team to address students’ SEMH needs.

Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to support students’ well-being.
Professional Development:

Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of SEMH.

Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop innovative teaching approaches.

Stay informed about current educational research and developments in SEMH.
Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and behaviour.

Prepare reports and attend meetings as required.

Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Experience teaching primary-aged children, preferably in a SEMH or special education setting.

Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support students.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
