T&E (Transport & Environment) UK is looking for a Vehicles Policy Officer to help lead our work on the future of vehicles and road transport in the UK.
This role will shape and influence national government policies aimed at cutting emissions from cars, vans, and trucks in the UK. You’ll work on advancing vehicle electrification, phasing out polluting fuels, and promoting cleaner freight solutions. You will join a small, highly motivated UK team and collaborate closely with T&E’s Europe-wide experts in vehicles, freight, energy, and sustainable mobility. You’ll play a key role in developing and executing advocacy strategies, developing robust and data-led policy positions, and engaging with UK decision makers and industry players to steer the transition to clean road transport.
Transport & Environment UK is the national office of the European clean transport NGO T&E. We combine the power of robust evidence and a deep understanding of the transport sector with compelling communications and impactful advocacy. Our aim is to achieve a zero-emission mobility system that is affordable and has minimal impacts on our health, climate and environment and is accessible to all.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience working on technical or policy issues in the environmental, energy, or transport sectors.
- A strong understanding of what makes an effective advocacy strategy.
- The ability to think and act with initiative, and to influence senior policy-makers.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to work effectively in teams.
- Good knowledge of current UK transport policy, particularly in relation to vehicles.
- The ability to speak at least one other EU language is considered a bonus.
This is a full-time position based in London. A flexible working schedule can be discussed with up to 3 days of homeworking/week.
