As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of high-quality computer products in accordance with production schedules and quality standards. This role requires a "hands-on" style of strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of production methodologies. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and results-oriented individual with a proven track record of improving production efficiency and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Production: Lead the full production lifecycle of new computer products including prototype, production, modifications and repairs. Provide "hands-on" direct production support in rapid prototyping, assembly, programmables, software configuration and test. Collaborate with the Technologists and Engineering teams to develop concepts into functional prototypes and production units. Collaborate with NPI teams and internal/external parties to evaluate prototype designs for manufacturability, functionality, and cost-effectiveness. Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
- Production Planning and Execution: Implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization. Monitor production progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to ensure timely delivery. Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Sales, Procurement, Quality Control) to ensure smooth production flow.
- Team Leadership Management: Lead, motivate, and develop the production team including supervisors and operators. Assign tasks, provide clear instructions, and ensure adequate training for all team members. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment promoting teamwork and accountability. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Process Optimization Improvement: Analyze current production processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies. Support root cause analysis (RCA) and its effective deployment. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, cycle time, and defect rates; implement strategies to achieve targets.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications throughout the production process. Collaborate with the Quality teams to address quality issues and implement preventative measures. Participate in quality audits and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment for all production personnel, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. Implement/enforce safety procedures; conduct regular safety training. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental/regulatory requirements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular production reports including performance against targets, resource utilization, & quality metrics. Analyze production data to identify trends & implement data-driven improvements. Present production performance updates to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial/Electronics/Mechanical/Computing or related field) or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing/production environment with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing production teams & achieving targets.
- Strong understanding of prototyping/manufacturing processes/quality control methodologies.
- Excellent leadership communication/interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving analytical skills.
- Proficiency in ERP Systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations/best practices in computer/electronics manufacturing environment.
