A friendly design practice are at an exciting period of growth and are excited to add a key senior technical role in their already established team. To be suited for this all round but technically driven interiors role, you may come from a role working as a Principal Designer, Senior Interior Designer, Head of Design or Technical Manager. Due to the medium size of this local firm, everyone tends to play a hands on role on projects and works across project stages. This role will offer you a chance to work to your strengths whether that may be more design or technical work as the company primarily work on leading projects for some well known multi national companies. Experience across either the Retail, Hospitality or Commercial sectors would be preferred and it is essential you have experience working on live projects. Experience in using either AutoCAD or Revit and Sketch-up & Photoshop is also highly desirable, although not essential.

Whilst helping with implementation of recent legislative changes ensuring compliance and quality at all stages.

This role will require site visits in hard to reach areas without a car, so a full UK driving licence is essential for this role.

In this role you will be the lead technical authority for reviewing drawing packages, details and compliance. You will be leading weekly resource meetings and manage project allocations. You will also be responsible for overseeing all design output and ensuring collaboration across different teams across project development including both internal teams and external contractors. This role will also see you supporting the managing partner with programme planning, project delivery and team development.

Key duties may include:

  • Experience delivering technical packages in commercial hospitality, retail, or commercial interiors sectors. Reviewing drawing packages, details and statutory compliance.
  • Attend site and lead technical projects.
  • Experienced in managing multi-project resourcing and capacity planning.
  • Develop detailed technical drawing packages that support creative design and construction practicality.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK Building Regulations and related legislation, including quality control of all drawing packages prior to issue.
  • Prior experience & knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Experience in providing Principal Designer (Building regulations) service and guiding clients through their compliance responsibilities. Working with Principal Designer (CDM), external consultants and subcontractors to ensure the integration across disciplines.
  • Producing interior and exterior details specifications.
  • Assisting with design proposals, construction details and schedules.
  • Liaising with external consultants across the project stages to delivery.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors and external consultants, along with visiting clients sites.
  • Contributing to tender and construction documentation, joinery detailing, lighting layouts, and specification writing.
  • Provide technical support during site stages.
