Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for an Approved Premises Worker on behalf of our client, the National Probation Service. As an Approved Premises Residential Worker, you'll be at the frontline of supporting individuals on probation in a residential setting, helping them stabilise, engage with services, and reduce reoffending. You'll work directly with residents to promote pro-social behaviour, ensure their safety, and maintain the smooth operation of the Approved Premises. You'll be responsible for monitoring activity, ensuring compliance with rules, and helping individuals make positive progress. You'll also play a vital role in maintaining a safe environment and contributing to the effective functioning of the wider probation service.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor behaviour, support routines, and ensure safe and structured daily operations
- Maintain a visible and active presence throughout the premises, including during regular inspections
- Support the supervision of residents, including drug and alcohol testing where required
- Undertake safety and security procedures such as room checks and monitoring CCTV
- Provide practical support to residents, including coordinating purposeful activities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation using probation systems
- Promote equality, inclusion, and respect among residents and colleagues
- Engage effectively with team members and contribute to risk management processes
What You'll Need
- A relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Criminal Justice or 5 GCSEs grade C and above including English and Maths, or equivalent)
- Recent experience with a recognised provider of probation services (within the last 5 years)
- Experience working with diverse service users and managing sensitive issues with discretion
- Understanding of equality, inclusion, and the diverse needs of residents
- Competence using probation IT systems and maintaining clear, accurate records
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
- Solid understanding of the Criminal Justice System and relevant legislation
The deadline for applications for this position is 06/06/25. An enhanced DBS will be required for this role. Location: Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 5AA. Contract: until 24/12 (with possibility of extension). Work hours: 37 hours per week. Salary: £13.71 p/h.
