Warwickshire County Council is looking to appoint a Team Manager Energy and Environment. As the Corporate Officer responsible for Environmental and Energy Management within the built environment, you will provide a high level of expertise in your professional discipline. The Team Manager Energy and Environment, working within the Property Service, is responsible for establishing the Strategy and supporting the implementation of delivery of a Decarbonisation Plan across WCC's property portfolio. Delivering the Energy Strategy and ensuring WCC's compliance against the Environmental Management System BSI Standard ISO14001.
The position and team support the Council Delivery Plan's objective of Reducing Carbon Emissions to Net Zero by 2050 across the County; 2030 across WCC's property portfolio. Working alongside the Climate and Sustainability Team this is a key role to support the delivery of the Sustainable Futures Strategy. Reporting to the Strategy Manager Property Policy and Performance you will act as a principal subject matter expert. You will be advising, influencing, designing, and shaping solutions to support the Council's innovative response to new and emerging energy and environmental challenges.
You will be primarily responsible for managing a team of Energy and Environmental professionals who are responsible for establishing solutions to support the decarbonisation of the Council's property estate; managing utility contracts for the County Council; implementing a review of the Building Management System; ensuring that renewable assets installs are operating effectively; developing Strategy and Policy to support the delivery of the Council's Energy Strategy and ultimately the Sustainable Futures Strategy. You will work within the Councils Property team which has a responsibility to investing and managing in the Council's portfolio. You will work to an agile working contract, enabling you to balance work life commitments.
Key Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in relevant Environmental Science and or professionally registered with IEMA
- You will have substantial experience of team management
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and policy
- Lead the team in identifying, managing and ultimately delivering initiatives to support the Councils Climate Change Emergency and Zero Carbon targets
- Experience of developing and implementing appropriate Environmental and Energy Strategies and Policies that encourage best practice and which are aligned to the Climate Change Initiatives
- Driving license and willing to commute around the County
- Evidence and experience of leading and delivering successful energy management or improvement programmes
- Contract management experience
- Experience of successful stakeholder management
- Experience of solving complex issues and having a solution-oriented approach to manage risk appropriately
- Ensure that energy usage from buildings and streetlights across the organisation is monitored and targets are set that support the Councils net zero carbon targets
- Report and manage budgets
