Company Insight

One of the world's pre-eminent investment management firms are looking to bring on board a Senior Software Engineer/Developer to help lead a brand new trading desk buildout. The business have specified a need for someone possessing technical leadership experience from a high performing and front-office development trading environment. The role would be embedded within the business, where you will partner closely with trading, quant research and data teams on a daily basis. You will design and build backend systems/models in scalable code to be implemented into a cutting-edge modelling and data analytics infrastructure to accurately track and capitalize on the live supply and demand for European Power and Natural Gas.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely and actively collaborate with trading, research and data teams to develop core analytics, delivering key technological initiatives for the trading division.
  • Understand and translate business challenges, driving technical/quantitative solutions for other engineers within your team.
  • Handle and pull together large data sets from diverse array of sources in order to build data analytics/trading tools.
  • Design and Structure scalable, maintainable solutions, improving model frameworks and performance.
  • Act as a key stakeholder and technical liaison in a truly world-class advanced technology platform and drive enhancements that help maintain the firm's competitive advantage within global markets.

Requirements

  • Outstanding academic credentials with track record of overachievement - BS Degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering or other STEM Discipline.
  • Programming Fluency in Python - Experience using multiple programming languages is desirable.
  • 7+ years of Front-Office Trading Experience with complex, multi-site, systems architectures, strong unix operating system knowledge and exposure to a variety of database technologies.
  • Exposure to commodity trading markets would be advantageous.
  • Possess strong motivation to work in a hands-on collaborative environment and able to demonstrate excellent and commercial communication skills and attention to detail.
