Our client, a well known manufacturer is looking to appoint a Production Manager for their fast paced volume production site. Managing around 50 people on shift at any one time the successful Production Manager will have previous experience of shift work and leading a team to meet daily KPI's, preferably in a time sensitive, lean focused, volume manufacturing environment (precision engineering, fabrication, plastic, glass, electronics etc). Although the majority of staff are permanent at peak times your team may be strengthened with the addition of contract / agency staff. It would be beneficial for the Production Manager to have had previous experience of managing temporary staff.
Previous work experience in a lean manufacturing environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of continuous improvement. The Production Manager ultimately chosen for this role can come from a wide range of backgrounds. Applications are particularly encouraged by candidates from any volume manufacturing background with a skilled or semi-skilled workforce: precision engineering, fabrication, plastic, glass, electronics etc.
Roles & Responsibilities:- Assistance with preparation of risk assessments and method statements where appropriate
- Liaise closely with Project Managers keeping them informed of site progress, issues and opportunities
- Lead on-site customer liaison before, during and post installation
- Drive, report and communicate any obstacles to project delivery, production, installation and further sales opportunities
- Ensure site QHSE standards are maintained in line with documented RAMS, company procedures and legislative requirements
- Manage and develop the nationwide labour and subcontractor base delivering effective capacity for growth
- Provide weekly summaries of production and installation activity, plus a monthly report capturing issues and trends.
