As our next Data Architect, you’ll play a leading role in shaping the future state of data management across the organisation. You’ll set standards, processes, design/build end-to-end data architecture designs and data models to support the business transformation across the Society. YBS is investing in its data capabilities and you will be part of the team that seeks to embed these within the organisation and build out modern, scalable and governed data platforms. You’ll join a brilliant and diverse team of Data Architects, Analysts, Designers and BI colleagues in our Leeds based Information Architecture and Design function. This is a hybrid role; with remote working and some onsite presence in our central Leeds office, usually once a week.
About the role
- Support projects in designing and developing data solutions that align to architectural principles and standards, and support the team in embedding strategic data capabilities to reduce data risk within the organisation.
- Represent the wider data function across the YBS business.
- Provide data leadership and consulting to project teams and business areas.
- Deliver conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- Contribute to the data architecture framework and own an element of the data architecture roadmap ensuring designs are delivered to our strategy and Society’s Enterprise-wide design principles.
- Contribute to the development Data Architecture Governance Framework and Design Forums, using industry standard principals, techniques and tools.
- Help to direct and lead the Design Authority forums for any data change.
About you
- With excellent knowledge of reference architectures for data management, experience in data modelling and a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
- Experience in coaching other team members plus excellent business and technical stakeholder management.
- Ability to develop robust enterprise strategies and solutions within timelines.
- Excellent understanding and experience of designing and developing with relational and dimensional data models.
- Analytical skills to investigate problems through to resolution.
- Experience of data mapping between multiple systems.
- Solid understanding of data quality from validation/verification/preparation/analysis.
- Understanding of business use cases for analytics and how to provide the data.
- Strong communication skills explaining complex concepts to non-technical colleagues.
- Knowledge of TOGAF or other architecture framework, awareness of microservices architecture design and experience of master data management or data virtualisation.
- Experience of Azure cloud would be beneficial.
