Reed Food & FMCG are currently recruiting for an Area Manager to join a Food Manufacturing business near Kingston Upon Thames, in this role you will have a direct impact on the bottom line of the business. This role is crucial in leading and taking ownership of your shift, focusing on people, plant, and equipment, as well as materials. You will be a key member of the Operations Team, supported by your Factory Manager, other Area Managers, and various specialist roles.
In this role it is imperative to have excellent managerial skills, and a real people focus. My client is looking for a real people manager and these skills are a higher priority than having a FMCG background.
Day-to-day of the role:

Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and agency staff, acting immediately in the event of an accident or incident.

Develop and nurture a well-balanced, multi-skilled team, driving performance and developing our talent pool for ongoing success.

Manufacture safe and legal food while maintaining an environment that nurtures this, reducing non-conformity and driving process improvements.

Achieve business KPI metrics focused on customer service, product quality, yield/carcass utilisation, labour, and line efficiencies, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Liaise with other Area Managers to control production issues and ensure all production requirements are met within quality, cost, and delivery constraints.

Lead your team in achieving weekly targets, prioritising workloads to meet customer requirements, and suggesting improvements to enhance productivity and performance.

Maintain high standards in EDS and Hygiene, Housekeeping, Paperwork, Attendance, Timekeeping, and Incident reporting.

Ensure compliance with Customer Codes of Practice and relevant QCPs.

Plan and implement training, coaching, and induction for new team members.
