The business unit provides an array of services across reverse logistics, trade-in, forward logistics, call centers, recommerce, and associated supply chain services. With a key focus on the technology, consumer electronics, and small domestic appliance markets, they specialise in providing integrated solutions that create value for clients through innovative and sustainable services. As part of the team, you will contribute to driving growth and developing new opportunities across Europe.
About the Role:
As the European Business Development Director, you will own the Business Development function across the UK and Europe. Your primary responsibility will be managing and developing both new and existing client relationships through a team of business development and key account management professionals. You will focus on driving business growth by delivering tailored, solution-based selling, managing strategic accounts, and achieving profitability targets across various service segments.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Client Relationship Management: Overseeing key relationships, personally managing select clients, and working with a team to drive business growth through both new acquisition and retention activities.
- Sales Leadership: Managing the Business Development & Key Account Management team, setting ambitious sales targets, developing propositions for customers, and ensuring proactive retention strategies for key clients.
- Market Expansion: Identifying and pursuing new market opportunities in the UK & European market by understanding and addressing the unique needs of customers within the Lifecycle business unit.
- Team Development: Leading and mentoring the team, ensuring the continuous development of team members through training, regular performance reviews, and objective setting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, marketing, and operations, to ensure alignment on customer needs and business goals, ensuring that solutions are delivered successfully.
- Strategy Execution: Managing the end-to-end business development process, including RFQs, pricing, presentations, and contract negotiations, while maintaining a strong sales funnel for pipeline management.

- Business Growth: Lead the team to meet business development targets and identify new business opportunities predominantly across the UK & Europe.
- Market Mapping: Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify potential customers and service segments, driving new business acquisition.
- Sales Funnel Management: Maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring visibility and tracking of all key opportunities.
- Team Leadership & Development: Regularly coach and develop the team, ensuring high performance, goal alignment, and continuous improvement in sales processes.
- Client Retention & Negotiations: Oversee customer retention activities, including contract renegotiations and proactive engagement with key accounts.
- Collaboration Across Functions: Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions that meet client needs, ensuring successful implementation and execution.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven Leadership Experience: Extensive experience in business development, preferably in the technology services or logistics sectors.
- Sales Expertise: Proven track record in managing and leading sales teams, developing complex sales proposals, and negotiating contracts.
- Commercial & Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of P&L management and financial analysis.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate and present effectively, both internally and with customers, including executive-level presentations.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the mobile, consumer electronics, and IT services industries, along with the experience in writing RFQ responses and addressing complex commercial matters.
