Human Resources Business Partner – Boutique Investment Bank – London, UK

Our client

Our client is a boutique investment bank renowned for providing specialised financial advisory services, focusing predominantly on mergers & acquisitions and capital markets advisory for a sophisticated client base. Operating within a dynamic, high-performing, and collaborative environment, they maintain a strong foothold across EMEA markets and pride themselves on their entrepreneurial culture. They are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner, ideally with front-office investment banking exposure, to join their London team.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted strategic partner to front-office Investment Banking (IB) teams, providing proactive guidance on human capital strategies, talent management, and organisational effectiveness.
  • Manage critical HR processes, including annual compensation cycles, performance reviews, succession planning, and talent development initiatives, ensuring alignment with front-office expectations and industry standards.
  • Lead HR workstreams relating to mergers and acquisitions, including organisational design, integration planning, and cultural alignment.
  • Provide accurate HR analytics and data-driven insights to support senior leaders in strategic decision-making, using advanced Excel skills to track, analyse, and present workforce metrics.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with regulatory HR requirements relevant to boutique investment banking environments across EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders, demonstrating strong influencing skills to implement meaningful HR solutions that enhance employee engagement, retention, and team performance.
  • Lead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives, integrating best practices within the boutique banking environment.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to senior leaders, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape and broader industry trends.

Experience requirements

  • Extensive experience as an HR Business Partner within boutique investment banking or financial services firms, ideally supporting front-office or Investment Banking populations within the EMEA region.
  • Demonstrable M&A integration or organisational design experience is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Workday HRIS would be advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills essential; candidates must be adept in data analysis, reporting, and presenting insights clearly to senior management.
  • Degree qualified in HR, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. CIPD qualification or equivalent professional HR qualification preferred.
  • Proven ability to deliver successfully in a high-pressure, client-focused, and commercially driven environment.
  • Strong influencing, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and partnership-building skills, tailored specifically to boutique financial services firms.
