Senior Safety Engineer – Electrical Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston. Package: £47,690 – £70,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience) Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Let us introduce the role AWE is now recruiting for several Senior Electrical Safety Engineers to join our Electrical Safety Team, within our Engineering Safety Organisation, who provide complex professional engineering judgement for the effective implementation of technical engineering safety. Your Responsibilities: Setting, managing, and assessing standards of competence for Electrical Engineering Safety Appointed people such as Authorised Persons and Nominated Persons. Reviewing suitability of Electrical safe systems of work for maintenance delivery by AWE and contract personnel for compliance with relevant regulations. Reviewing legislative records pertaining to engineering safety. Providing advice on the safe and effective implementation of engineering safety and making judgement on the safe and effective implementation of engineering safety within area of authority. Overseeing supply chain’s specialist contractors application of engineering safety when delivering tasks. Providing technical support in resolving complex and multifaceted issues across the business. Supporting the development and efficient operation of the Engineering Safety Organisation. Experience Required: Strong electrical engineering background. Good understanding of The Electricity at Work Regulations, BS 7671, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. Knowledge of Electrical safety on construction sites HSG141, DSEAR Regulations, and associated inspection and maintenance requirements is desirable. Good understanding of relevant British Standards and Industry Standards. A recognised engineering/electrical-related qualification (Level 4/HNC/HND etc) or equivalent suitable experience, such as EngTech MIET. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of maintaining Electrical building services. Preferably held or holds an Authorising Engineer / Authorised Person appointment. The ability to deliver engineering across an equivalent manufacturing and/or research environment comprising a range of infrastructure facilities and associated manufacturing and/or research plant and equipment. Experience of working on large civil construction projects – desirable. Experience of identifying, managing and reporting on engineering safety risks to senior management. Previous experience of leading the delivery of engineering services across the life of an asset. Benefits: AWE has a wide range of benefits to suit you.
