A booming multi-disciplinary contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor or a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage a multi-million pound scheme close to Cambridge. Company wide, they excel in the delivery of construction projects on a national scale but you will be covering the East Midlands area. They have just had a record year, making this an exciting time to join them as they continue expanding.
Our client is a leading main contractor specialising in turnkey solutions for industrial, build-to-rent, student accommodation and civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
THE ROLE:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be site based close to Cambridge managing 1 of 2 schemes (depending on your preference and skill set):
- Scheme 1: 2 architectural bridges connecting a college campus. £15m, 55 weeks.
- Scheme 2: Infrastructure scheme for a college campus including roads, drainage, water features, and landscaping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Attend post tender and pre-contract meetings.
- Reviewing of contract documents to ensure that the company is protected at all times.
- Issue sub-contract tender packages and undertake contractual evaluation of the tender.
- Manage the established list of supply chain sub-contractors.
- Assess contract risk and work with the site team to develop and manage mitigation plans.
- Attend internal and external commercial review meetings.
- Submission of client valuations and management of the variation account.
- Manage the commercial aspects of the contract.
- Experience in internal cost management and contract administration.
- Management of subcontract accounts from procurement to final account.
- Preparation and assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works.
- Manage commercial performance against business targets.
- Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that legislations are met.
The right person - Quantity Surveyor:
- You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor.
- You will have experience working on civil engineering schemes.
Working hours: 8-5.30 - 1 hour for lunch.
