Environmental Consultant

A Leading Energy and Infrastructure Consultancy requires an experienced Environmental Consultant/Manager with site experience to join a small, dynamic Environmental and Sustainability Team for a Global Infrastructure Business. The position is home based with trips to work within the Clients’ Management Team and on site when required/necessary. Travel and subsistence are part of the package.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Environmental Lead to ensure full environmental compliance on a legacy brownfield site, which will be redeveloped into a leading Global power generation facility; overseeing and ensuring that all site characterisation and other activities comply with environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.

• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
• Identify and document any potential environmental hazards or breaches of compliance.
• Review Contractor work plans to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, standards and best practices.
• Ensure all site activities comply with local and National environmental laws and regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports on environmental performance and incidents, and communicate findings to the Site Manager and Environmental Technical Lead.
• Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance documentation.
• Provide guidance and advice to the site team(s) on environmental best practices and sustainability measures.
• Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate environmental impacts.
• Maintain accurate records of all environmental inspections, monitoring activities, and compliance reports.
• Ensure all environmental documentation is up to date and readily accessible.
• Conduct training sessions for site personnel on environmental awareness and compliance.
• Promote a culture of environmental responsibility among all site workers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in an environmental role within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent relationship building and in person communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment and software.
• Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to various sites as needed.
