Our client is a well-established, family-run business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke machinery and processing equipment for the food industry. Due to continued growth, they are looking to expand the team with a Mechanical Design Engineer.
You will be joining a supportive and innovative engineering team where your skills can make a real impact.
The RoleAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of custom machinery, working on-site at their Newtownards facility. You will work closely with customers and the internal team to bring tailored engineering solutions to life.
- Designing bespoke machinery and fabrications to customer specifications
- Visiting customer sites to take measurements and determine technical requirements
- Creating and modifying drawings using SolidWorks
- Producing detailed production drawings for manufacture
- Ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and support ease of manufacturing
- Liaising with the production team to resolve technical design issues
- Organising and maintaining comprehensive design records
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in machine building and design
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong skills in SolidWorks
- A proven track record in a similar role
- Experience in the food industry
- Solid knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A full, clean driving license
