🚨 Contract Opportunity: Platform Engineer – SC Cleared

📍 Hybrid: 3 days on-site (London SW1A), 2 days remote

📅 Start: ASAP | Contract until March 2026

💼 Outside IR35 | £520 per day

We’re hiring a highly skilled Platform Engineer with active SC clearance to support a mission-critical infrastructure programme. You’ll play a key role in deploying, maintaining, and enhancing a complex virtualisation and server estate across secure environments.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your VMware, Windows Server, and automation skills into a high-impact public sector environment.

🔧 What You’ll Do

• Deploy and manage VMware VCF infrastructure (ESXi, vSAN, vCenter, NSX, Aria Ops, Avi Load Balancer)
• Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments (2016–2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPO
• Maintain and secure PKI/CA services, manage certificate lifecycle
• Plan and execute patching, upgrades, lifecycle management
• Provide 3rd line support for complex Wintel and virtualisation issues
• Automate tasks using PowerShell, CLI, and orchestration tools
• Implement backup & disaster recovery processes
• Collaborate with security teams to maintain compliance (CIS, NCSC)
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation

🧠 What You Bring

• Extensive experience with VMware VCF stack (vSphere, NSX, Aria)
• Strong expertise in Windows Server and core services (AD, PKI, GPO, ADFS)
• Proficiency in PowerShell and Infrastructure-as-Code automation
• Knowledge of virtual networking and storage
• Familiarity with public/hybrid cloud integrations (AWS, Azure, VMware Cloud on AWS)
• Experience with hardened OS builds, security patching, and compliance
• Hands-on with VDI technologies (e.g., Horizon)
• Familiar with Ansible, Puppet, DSC, and Git-based version control
• Understanding of ITIL frameworks and enterprise ops models
• Experience in air-gapped / secure environments
