Our client in Sussex is seeking an experienced and adaptable Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to join their team on a full-time basis. This role is suited to a generalist officer, with particular strengths in Environmental Protection and preferably Food Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Protection:
  • Investigating statutory nuisances, including noise, odour, smoke, and light complaints.
  • Responding to service requests related to environmental pollution.
  • Preparing enforcement notices where necessary and taking cases through to prosecution if required.
  • Liaising with residents, businesses, and external agencies to ensure compliance and resolution.
  • Contributing to planning consultations and providing technical advice on environmental protection matters.
  • Food Safety (Desirable):
    • Conducting food hygiene inspections in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
    • Investigating food-related complaints and enforcing relevant food safety legislation.
    • Providing support to local food businesses on compliance and best practices.

    Additional Information:

    • Hybrid working model on-site presence will be required for inspections and team collaboration.
    • The assignment falls within IR35 and runs through to end of December 2025.
