Location: London / Hybrid (2 days in office / 3 days at home)

Salary: £35,777 - £42,090 pa

Our primary purpose is to protect patient safety and maintain public confidence in dental services. To achieve this, we register qualified dental professionals, set standards for the dental team, investigate complaints about dental professionals' fitness to practise, and work to ensure the quality of dental education.

To make important changes to how we work with dental professionals and protect the public, we are growing our policy team - recruiting Policy Managers and Policy Project Officers. Through the support of our experienced team, the post offers an unrivalled opportunity to develop your policy making skills whilst shaping essential public service.

As a Policy and Project Officer, you will be instrumental in achieving our ambitions. Policy and Project Officers deliver policy projects which draw on evidence and data, stakeholder engagement, and public consultation. Policy and Project Officers also help us to scan the horizon to be ahead of challenges and opportunities, respond to consultations, and keep specific parts of the GDC’s regulatory policy framework up to date.

Policy and Project Officers are line managed by Policy Managers, and work to Heads of particular policy areas and an Associate Director of Policy and Research who steers the work of the whole team. The team sits within the Strategy Directorate which includes Communications and Engagement and Education Quality Assurance teams.

About you:

We are looking for candidates with experience of research and analysis to support policy development, combined with good project and/or programme management skills. In your application you will need to evidence experience of planning, managing competing priorities and delivering work to tight deadlines, as well as your ability to understand and communicate complex information, drafting reports and papers and presenting them at meetings.
