Our Secondary School Client, who are a mainstream secondary academy in Braintree, are looking for a Head of MFL to join their team. This role would be suitable for someone who has previously been a Head of MFL or is looking for a promotion. The School offers French and Spanish. The ability to teach both languages would be advantageous but not essential.
The Role: As Head of MFL, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the MFL department. You will inspire a team of dedicated teachers, drive student achievement, and ensure a rich, challenging, and engaging curriculum that fosters a love of literature and language.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the MFL department
- Lead curriculum planning, delivery, and development across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 would be advantageous)
- Monitor and drive improvements in teaching, learning, and student outcomes
- Mentor and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
- Use data and assessment effectively to raise achievement
- Champion literacy across the school and support cross-curricular initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
- A qualified teacher with QTS and a proven track record of excellence in Language teaching
- Experience in leading or contributing significantly to departmental improvement
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others
- A deep knowledge of the MFL curriculum and assessment frameworks
