Marketing Assistant (Maternity Cover) Contract Type : Fixed term Working Hours : Full-time Start Date : January 2025 Reporting to : Commercial Director Location: Blackburn Job Description Our client is seeking a proactive and creative Marketing Assistant to join their team on a maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to support the school’s marketing and communications activities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the school’s presence both online and offline, with a strong focus on digital marketing. Key Responsibilities Digital Marketing & Communications Social Media Management : Create, schedule, and monitor engaging content across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn). Website Maintenance : Regularly update the school website, ensuring content is accurate, current, and reflects the school’s ethos and events. Email Marketing : Assist in creating and distributing newsletters, invitations, and other email campaigns using platforms such as Mailchimp. Content Creation : Produce digital content, including photography, short videos, and written content for blogs and social media. Analytics & Reporting : Monitor and report on website and social media analytics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement. Traditional Marketing & Events Support the planning and execution of key school events, such as open days, parent evenings, and student performances. Assist with the design and production of promotional materials (e.g., flyers, brochures, posters). Coordinate with external suppliers (e.g., photographers, designers, and printers) to deliver marketing materials on time. General Administration Maintain the school’s marketing databases and mailing lists. Assist with market research to understand competitor activities and identify marketing trends. Provide administrative support to the wider team as required. Person Specification Essential Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in a marketing role, ideally within the education sector or a related field. Strong understanding of social media platforms and website management (CMS experience preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and email marketing platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Creative flair with a keen eye for detail. Desirable Skills & Attributes Experience in photography, video editing, and graphic design. Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, and paid social media advertising. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
