Our client, based in Colchester, has grown to be one of the leading law firms in Essex. Offering a full range of legal advice to businesses and individual clients, they now have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conveyancing Assistant to join their busy Conveyancing Department.
This role provides vital administrative and file management support to their solicitors with matter progression, helping to ensure the efficient handling of client transactions from instruction through to completion.
The ideal candidate will possess previous experience working in a Conveyancing department.
About the Role- Supporting Fee Earners with Residential Conveyancing matters including sales, purchases, transfer of equity, re-mortgages, assents, first registrations, and general property matters
- Obtaining property searches and managing incoming documents
- Providing quotes to prospective clients using the online quote tool
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other conveyancing firms to support the progress of transactions
- Supporting Fee Earners with drafting contract packs, dealing with enquiries, and coordinating exchange and completion to include the preparation of the completion statements and applying for pre-completion searches
- Opening files and proceeding with the initial stages of conveyancing transactions
- Completing Local Authority, Chancel, and other relevant pre-exchange searches
- Complete Stamp Duty Land Tax forms
- Supporting with Post-completion tasks, including dealing with Land Registry applications and SDLT Submissions
- File Closure
- Previous experience in a Conveyancing Assistant or legal support role
- Experience supporting more than one Fee Earner
- Strong understanding of the residential conveyancing process and associated documentation
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident in learning legal case management systems
- A professional and client-focused approach

Monday – Friday 9 am – 5.00 pm Office based
