We are currently supporting Coventry University to recruit for an Information Governance Assistant. This role will be expected to provide support services and facilitate the efficient operation of the Information Governance Unit (within the wider Legal and Governance team), including proactively managing a busy workload, in particular in responding to data subject access and freedom of information requests.

The successful candidate will face challenges associated with the management of heavy workloads and frequently changing demands made by a broad range of parties across the University Group and externally. They will be required to be flexible in an ever-changing environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dealing with data subject access requests, freedom of information requests and other requests for information, responding to data breaches, completing data protection impact assessments and compliance reports, and responding to general enquiries.
  • This includes the processing of requests, following up on work results and informing data subjects, requestors of information, internal clients and other stakeholders of progress.
  • Produce correspondence on behalf of the Information Governance Unit, including corresponding directly with data subjects, individuals making freedom of information requests, third parties submitting disclosure requests, and internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the information governance suite of template documents is kept up to date.
  • Provide a significant contribution to the preparation, collection and collation of documents for external and internal audit and review.
