A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Regeneration & Environment team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to deliver and implement corporate and directorate objectives through specialist planning advice, dealing with major and other planning applications, policy development, and associated services.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing a caseload of major and other planning applications and determining applications in line with the Council’s scheme of delegation.
- Developing and implementing statutory and non-statutory policy and strategy including Local Plans and Neighbourhood Plans.
- Preparing and advising on CIL/s106 matters including policy and implementation.
- Engaging in pre-application discussions and negotiations with developers.
- Acting as expert witness for planning/enforcement appeals and public examinations.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A degree in Planning (or equivalent) and full RTPI membership (or clear evidence of working towards full membership).
- Local Authority experience working on policy planning or major applications.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write complex reports.
- Experience preparing and presenting evidence at appeals or examinations.
- Supervisory or team management experience.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £36 per hour PAYE).
