GMP Recruitment are proud to partner with a well-known and highly successful manufacturing business in Malvern, that specialise within the automotive industry. We are currently supporting their recruitment for an experienced Paint Preparation Technician to join their team on a full time, permanent contract. You will be part of a dedicated Production Team, working primarily within the Paint Shop to make sure every product leaves the factory with a flawless finish that lives up to customers’ high expectations.

This position can offer a basic salary circa £36K but can be negotiated higher for an exceptionally skilled and experienced candidate.

Paint Preparation Technician main duties:
  • Prepare components to an impeccable standard, ensuring every detail is perfect.
  • Surface preparation, sanding and grinding parts ready for paint.
  • Paint mixing and colour matching.
  • Paint application via spraying, brushing, or dipping methods.
  • Inspect for defects such as runs, sags, or uneven finishes.
  • Support the wider production team by learning new skills and contributing across departments.
Paint Preparation Technician required skills and experience:
  • Proven background in an automotive paint, body shop, or repair environment.
  • Completion of a Vehicle Body Craft Studies course or relevant training (e.g., PPG Autocolor or equivalent).
  • Hands-on knowledge of paint preparation and application techniques in a professional setting.
  • Passion for craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to teamwork.
