Our client is a Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Consultancy looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to join their dynamic team. They offer innovative digital and cyber security solutions to clients from the public and private sectors. You will be working on interesting large-scale Government and private sector projects.

ROLE OBJECTIVE: We are seeking an experienced Senior Interaction Designer with a successful track record in working within agile, multidisciplinary teams to rapidly develop and iterate user-centred design concepts for complex services and transformation programmes. You should be skilled in creating low to high-fidelity prototypes using the GOV.UK prototyping toolkit, along with producing user journeys, wireframes, and navigation schemas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in an agile, multidisciplinary team to develop design concepts at pace within multiple or complex services or fast-moving transformation programmes.
  • Develop low to high-fidelity prototypes using the GOV.UK prototyping toolkit.
  • Produce user journey maps, sitemaps, navigation schema, and annotated wireframes.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusion, ensuring that designs meet accessibility, legal, and security requirements.
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues, promoting knowledge sharing and adoption of good practice.
  • Develop user centred design best practice, standards, and guidance, playing a lead role in the client's growing UCD community of practice.
  • Promote the value of a consistent high-quality user experience through design and use of reusable elements, proactively engaging with colleagues across the organization and promoting interaction design best practice.
  • Actively participate in user research to identify user needs, test different design ideas, and be responsible for developing and maintaining suitable prototypes.
  • Be confident in discussing the evidence, data, and research that supports your design decisions.
  • Identify and design the best way for users to interact with your service across different channels, devices, browsers, and technologies, making decisions based on insights from user research.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Working experience in using the GOV.UK prototyping toolkit.
  • Working knowledge of the GOV.UK design system, design principles, service manual, and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to identify constraints to ensure designs are feasible and meet user needs.
  • Experience of creating user centred-design deliverables to help explain complex problems and ideas to teams, service managers, programme directors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience of advising teams on how to design accessible solutions across a range of channels to meet customer needs.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping tools, for example, Figma, Sketch.
  • Experience of working in an agile, multi-disciplinary team environment, involving the right people across teams of progression boundaries throughout the design process.
  • Great consultancy skills, caring about your client’s needs and motivations.
  • Good collaboration skills and the ability to co-create and solve design challenges within a team and across teams.
