An opportunity exists for a Senior or Associate Quantity Surveyor to join our Manchester office, working exclusively on a large-scale High Risk residential project in the city centre of Manchester, with an estimated contract value in the nine figure region.
As a Senior or Associate Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for:
- Delivering exceptional QS services for the client under the guidance of the Regional Director.
- Providing real value while meeting the needs of customers across various projects in retail, commercial, residential and leisure sectors.
- Assisting with feasibility studies, cost estimates, and budget preparation for new projects.
- Preparing tender documents, including scope of works, and managing the tender process.
- Evaluating and selecting contractors through competitive tendering.
- Providing cost advice and value engineering during the design phase to optimize costs.
- Developing detailed cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
- Overseeing the financial management of projects, ensuring costs are controlled and the project remains within budget.
- Preparing and managing valuations, including interim valuations and final accounts.
- Managing changes and variations, ensuring proper documentation and negotiation with contractors.
- Reviewing and approving contractor invoices and claims, ensuring they are in line with contract terms.
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Identifying and assessing potential risks on projects and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Engaging in value engineering to improve cost efficiency while maintaining quality and project scope.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records of project financials, including cost reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Monitoring and reporting on contract performance, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Be degree qualified (BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent).
- Possess 5 years’ experience in a similar QS role, demonstrating a track record within both pre and post contract delivery.
- Have experience delivering a range of different projects, ideally with experience under differing procurement approaches and in a client-facing role.
- Exhibit excellent contract knowledge and Contract Administration experience.
- Demonstrate competence in advising clients on key project-related issues and risks while managing day-to-day delivery and successfully managing change.
- Have the ability to lead both internal and client/design/construction teams and develop junior staff.
- Show strong IT capabilities including working experience of Microsoft Office.
