Glasgow Life is looking for an Event Manager (Venue and Operations) to join us on a 35-hour full-time, fixed-term contract for a period up to December 2028. As Event Manager (Venue and Operations), you will be joining our in-demand Events team, which supports the delivery of Glasgow’s host city commitments to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and UEFA EURO 2028.
Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city, investing to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile annual events, including the Merchant City Festival, Glasgow Mela, the World Pipe Band Championships, and Glasgow's winter events. Our team is the initial point of contact for events coming to the city, working with local, national, and international partners to maximise the economic, marketing, and social benefits of events to the city.
As Event Manager (Venue and Operations), you’ll be an integral part of the team and help support the delivery of two of the world’s biggest sporting events. Reporting to the Senior Events Lead (Projects) and working alongside both an established and a new project team, you will lead operational planning across Glasgow Life venues and services for Glasgow 2026.
The focus for this role will transition to operational event planning and delivery of Glasgow’s host city commitments for EURO 2028, including working with the project team and partners to deliver a fan zone and associated activations. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until December 2028.
If you’re interested in joining us as Event Manager (Venue and Operations), you’ll need:
- Experience of successful project delivery within a multi-sport and venue major event environment
- Experience as a senior operational manager in major events delivery
- Proven experience and ability to communicate and work in partnership with multiple stakeholders to understand expectations and deliver against agreed service levels
- Proven staff, project management, and budget management experience
We offer hybrid working for some roles, with teams working between the office and home. Our Albion Street office has great links to public transport as well as parking nearby.
