About the Head of Events Role:

They are looking for an experienced and inspirational Head of Event Services to lead their talented event delivery team. This is a newly created, Head of Department Role, designed to support their continued growth and reputation for excellence.

As Head of Event Services you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering unforgettable events and experiences that engage their clients, partners and stakeholders, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency across their portfolio. You will be responsible for team leadership, resourcing and allocation, and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to shape the future of their event delivery model. While primarily an office-based leadership role, the role will require periodic availability to work at event and other locations in the UK and overseas. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is ready to make a strategic impact, support and empower a high-performing team, and contribute to the long-term success of the business.

Key Responsibilities of Head of Events:

  • Directly support and manage team members so they deliver outstanding corporate events for UK and international clients.
  • Recruiting and selecting team members with the right attitude and capability
  • Providing day-to-day guidance, mentoring, and coaching to team members, ensuring continuous development and a positive team culture
  • Setting goals and objectives, building career and development plans and addressing any performance or conduct issues
  • Lead all aspects of the event lifecycle: ideation, budgeting, planning, production, execution, and post-event evaluation, involving team members where appropriate to broaden their skills and increase team capability
  • Oversee resource planning and allocation for in-house staff and freelance teams to ensure projects are fully and efficiently staffed
  • Take personal senior-level responsibility for complex or high-profile client events, providing strategic oversight and operational support
  • Oversee post-event evaluation and implement learnings to drive improvement

Key Skills & Attributes of Head of Events:

  • Minimum five years proven experience in senior event operations or team leadership roles
  • Strong people management skills – able to inspire, develop, and lead a team as well as effectively carry out recruitment, selection, performance and development management processes
  • Excellent organisational and project management capabilities
  • Strategic thinker with a solutions-focused approach to challenges
  • Able to manage and prioritise multiple complex projects with calm professionalism
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills – a natural collaborator who can create and lead virtual teams and create common goals
  • Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality events on time and on budget
  • Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and participating in strategic decision-making
  • Experience working with corporate clients and a good understanding of B2B event trends
  • Expert in project management, supplier negotiation, budget estimation and control, and logistics
