The Money Editor will be a proven personal finance specialist, with the ability to lead a team of dedicated money reporters, and be the authoritative voice of GB News for money on our broadcast channels. They will have a track record of being able to build a digital audience, bring in agenda-setting exclusives, and be confident in producing multimedia content that can be published cross-platform. Applicants must be flexible and willing to work across a seven-day rota as required for the needs of GB News. An excellent knowledge of media law is required.
Key responsibilities and main tasks:
- Sourcing and commissioning original stories and agenda-setting exclusives to turn GB News into a destination for the best money journalism.
- Monitoring analytics to identify new trends and opportunities to expand GBNews.com’s authority for money stories and transform the section into a content “super-vertical”.
- Be the go-to on-air specialist for GB News for breaking money news and for the big on-the-day personal finance stories.
- Fronting money videos for distribution on owned and operated digital platforms.
- Leading video interviews which can be packaged up for multiplatform use as well as syndication.
- Managing a team of specialist journalists, overseeing rotas, ensuring adequate staffing between 7am and 11pm across seven days a week.
- Responsible for on-the-day content and leading forward-planning of website money content.
- Encouraging personal development of reporters and editors, helping them to develop their journalistic and multimedia skills and championing their successes.
- Producing copy on a daily basis for news stories and features, writing clear, concise, and engaging articles on a variety of topics, adhering to the GB News Editorial Charter.
- Utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to help boost the depth and breadth of GB News’s journalism.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced journalists and editors from both digital and broadcast to support career development.
- Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned to broaden skill set and professional experience.
- Be committed to Health and Safety requirements of self and others in the workplace.
