Reports To: Head Chef / Catering Manager
Job Purpose: To support the kitchen team in delivering nutritious, well-presented meals for residents while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene within the care home kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing ingredients and basic food items under the direction of the chef.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Ensure all food is handled and stored in line with food safety regulations.
- Support the serving of meals to residents when needed, ensuring a respectful and dignified approach.
- Monitor and report food stock levels; help with deliveries and stock rotation.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety procedures, and infection control standards.
- Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a tidy kitchen environment.
- Cooperate with care and catering staff to ensure resident dietary needs are met.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or care environment preferred.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety (Food Hygiene Certificate desirable).
