An exciting opportunity has arisen with a growing engineering manufacturer based in a brand-new, purpose-built facility in West Lancashire. This company specialises in the design and build of bespoke engineered solutions, supplying a wide range of sectors globally including energy, waste, humanitarian, and environmental applications.
This is a unique position for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of full lifecycle product development, from concept and prototyping through to build and commissioning. With a strong pipeline of new projects and investment in design capability, you'll be joining a team in an energetic and collaborative environment with a real buzz about the place. It's also a great opportunity to take that next step into leadership, supporting and mentoring a Mechanical Engineer and shaping the way projects are delivered across the team.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver end-to-end mechanical design across bespoke machinery and systems
- Drive innovation in new product development from initial concept to completion
- Liaise with cross-functional teams including fabrication, controls, and commissioning
- Produce and manage BOMs, manufacturing drawings, and documentation
- Support project management with costings, timelines and supplier interaction
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to engineering process improvements
- Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related subject
- Strong 3D CAD experience (ideally SolidWorks)
- Experience designing mechanical assemblies, sheet metal, or automation systems
- Background in machinery, special purpose equipment, or process systems
- Comfortable working on full project lifecycle, from blank-sheet to delivery
- Confident communicator with the ability to guide others and collaborate cross-functionally
- Salary up to £50,000 depending on experience
- On-site role in a modern, well-equipped facility
- Excellent project variety and exposure to full lifecycle engineering
