Freelance Performance Media Marketing Manager (Head Office)
As a Performance Media Manager, this position will be an SME responsible for managing £13.5m of investment and media agency relationship. The role requires excellent stakeholder and P&L management. A deep understanding of Performance Media activity including PPC, Paid Social, Affiliates, Display is essential. Working alongside the Senior Performance Media & CRM Manager to shape George’s ecommerce performance media strategy, reporting and decision making. The role requires a broad view of trends in the industry to keep George ahead of the comp, along with a laser focus on digital best practice and use of data.
The role involves a high degree of autonomous thinking to develop, set and deliver media strategies/approaches utilising past learnings and expertise across the team and media agencies whilst still being subject to internal review and approvals. Changes, short lead times on briefs/asks and creative turnarounds can limit media team ability to explore all opportunities.

- Support the Senior Performance Media & CRM manager on George.com’s Performance Media strategy for clothing and home, delivering results to the business on a weekly basis to grow George’s ecommerce offering.
- Plan holistically, linking to broader brand plans and attribution.
- Deliver timely and actionable reporting of results, to be circulated with relevant stakeholders.
- Report directly to key stakeholders and attend meetings to showcase results and strategy.
- Leverage George’s broader digital and data transformation to drive relevant comms through digital media channels
- Prepare and adapt for the future of George’s digital marketing, for example preparing activity for our site migration.
- Agency partnership with Spark Foundry – manage relationship to meet immediate needs but also ensure we are aware and involved in conversations relating to key changes & innovation / opportunities in media for the benefit of George.
- Drive relationships with key media partners such as Google & Meta, leveraging first in class opportunities for George.
- Create a culture of innovation, with continuous test and learn plans.
- Work closely with digital analytics and measurement teams to ensure efficient Performance Media activity and incremental value added to George.
- Regular input into overall customer comms strategy working alongside strategy, proposition, brand comms and coordinate with teams to support on exec updates and ad-hoc asks.

The role requires experience in paid media, media agency management, marketing strategy planning, measurement and Performance Media. Agency / in-house experience preferred, you\’ll also have:
- Experience of Affiliates, Display, Paid Social, PPC and Google Shopping, knowledge of product feed management, digital attribution & analytics (experience using Adobe Analytics would be advantageous).
- A real passion and in-depth knowledge of all competitor\’s media (use of, channel, ad-tech, processes, data & targeting capabilities, costs, legislation e.g. GDPR)
- Experience of agency management and understanding of data attribution.
- Continually develop knowledge and identify opportunities to drive innovation and performance.
- Understanding of business performance, it’s customers and competitor\’s media / comms activity is key to inform decision making .
- Strong commercial insight, with the ability to manage a large budget and complex P&L
Communicating and Influencing
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships at the various levels across an array of internal teams and external media partners.
- Willingness to challenge and problem solve .
- A strong understanding of the workings of media agencies, including all commercials and deliverables
- Ability to remain calm, measured and focused as priorities shift whilst still working at pace to meet business expectations
- In order to develop strong relationships required with the Senor Manager and George teams, there is a requirement to work in the George Head Office (Lutterworth) 2 days a week. Occasional visits to Asda House in Leeds may be required plus regular time in London working closely with the Spark Team.
