Mechanical Estimator – M&E Building Services – Portsmouth Area Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 + Car Allowance and Benefits Package This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator to join a highly respected M&E Building Services contractor delivering mechanical installation projects typically ranging from £500k to £6m across the commercial, office fit-out, healthcare, education, industrial, and leisure sectors. The company has an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical building services installations, including HVAC, heating and cooling systems, plantroom upgrades, pipework, public health services, and full M&E refurbishment projects. The Role As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for: * Preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects * Completing material take-offs, equipment schedules, and labour calculations * Preparing cost plans and tender submissions from first principles where required * Reviewing drawings, specifications, and client requirements * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations * Identifying value engineering opportunities and technical solutions * Supporting pre-construction and operational teams throughout the tender process * Working to tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy About You * Previous experience working as a Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator * Strong background within mechanical or M&E building services contracting * Good technical understanding of HVAC systems, heating and cooling plant, pipework, and associated building services * Ability to review drawings, interpret specifications, and prepare detailed tender returns * Strong communication and organisational skills Candidates from FM or maintenance backgrounds will not be suitable for this position, as experience within mechanical installation contracting is essential.
