We are currently seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to support our client, based in London. This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining backend and API-based integration solutions across a modern cloud ecosystem.
The Integration Engineer will join a dynamic technology team supporting our clients' global operations. This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with a strong background in backend development, systems integration, and API architecture, particularly in a regulated financial services environment. You’ll be key to delivering scalable and secure integration solutions that connect internal platforms, third-party services, and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement robust backend integration solutions across internal systems, cloud platforms, and third-party services.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and service layers, using API gateways to ensure secure and efficient connectivity.
- Work with architects and product owners to translate integration needs into technical implementations.
- Develop solutions using event-driven architecture and messaging platforms (e.g. Kafka, Azure Event Grid, Azure Service Bus).
- Ensure compliance with security standards, data governance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and drive resolution across development and production environments.
- Automate deployment and testing of integration components using CI/CD pipelines.
- Help define and enforce integration standards, reusable components, and best practices across teams.
- 6+ years of experience in backend development and integration engineering.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, .NET, Java, or Python.
- Experience in financial services or banking, with an understanding of regulatory and security requirements.
- Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and working with API gateways (Azure API Management, Apigee, etc.).
- Experience with cloud-based integration approaches, particularly in Microsoft Azure environments.
- Knowledge of messaging and event platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or Event Grid.
- Familiarity with authentication protocols such as OAuth2, JWT, and SAML.
- Solid understanding of data formats (JSON, XML) and transformation tools (e.g. XSLT).
- Experience using CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, and scripting with PowerShell or Bash.
- Strong skills in debugging, testing, and performance optimisation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Azure Logic Apps.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, AKS).
- Experience working within Agile or DevOps environments.
