Role Overview
As a Software Developer in Test (SDET), you will play a critical role in building fully automated tests using the latest test frameworks and tools. Positioned within the Testing Discipline, you will help drive testing excellence within our delivery teams, supporting our journey to become an elite technology organization.
You will work closely with development and platform engineering teams to ensure high-quality software through robust test automation, enabling seamless and continuous integration and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for test automation and shift-left best practices.
- Develop, maintain, and execute fully automated functional tests for both new and existing features using modern automation frameworks.
- Identify and create appropriate test data to support test scenarios.
- Provide technical input and support for initiatives aimed at improving our Test Automation frameworks and methodologies.
- Build domain knowledge of our technical landscape and the systems/applications under test.
- Offer technical guidance to other testers and team members on automation best practices.
- Demonstrate and present improvements and changes to stakeholders effectively.
- Review existing automation solutions and propose enhancements for optimization.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
- Advise developers on unit testing best practices to drive shift-left defect detection.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in an SDET / Test Automation role.
- Key Requirement: Hands-on experience testing Native Apps using Appium.
- Proficiency in Web (GUI) and back-end microservice testing.
- Demonstrated ability to implement changes and improvements to test automation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Appium, Postman, Selenium, GitLab.
- Skilled in automating API tests and leveraging APIs for test setup and teardown.
- Strong expertise in creating test automation code using Java.
- Solid experience with various types of testing (Component, Integration, End-to-End, Functional, Non-Functional).
- Comprehensive understanding of testing principles, processes, methodologies, and test tooling (e.g., Jira).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Ability to thrive in an automation-first environment with minimal supervision.
- A passion for emerging technologies, industry trends, and advanced tooling.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a knack for thinking outside the box.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience in testing within Banking/Financial domains or other regulated industries.
