Location

The exact location of the school will be discussed at telephone interview stage; however, the school is located directly between Stevenage & Cambridge so is easily accessible via the A505 from Stevenage or the A10 from Cambridge.

You will be joining a passionate multi-disciplinary team.

Duties

This Day School teaches children and young people up to age 19 with a variety of complex needs, including multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), moderate and severe learning disabilities, autism, ADHD and other difficulties. Many of the students you will be teaching will also have medical needs which may include physical or sensory impairment. You will be supported by a passionate multi-disciplinary team, including Teaching Assistants, Support Workers and therapists who ensure the curriculum meets the needs of the students.

  • You will be key in delivering high-quality teaching to the young people within a safe environment helping to equip them for the next stage of their lives.
  • Plan and deliver tailored, high-quality learning.
  • Create an engaging and supportive environment.
  • Work closely with class leaders, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the curriculum.
  • Lead and manage support staff effectively.
  • Engage in assessments and report on students' progress.
  • Potential for involvement in physical intervention and personal care routines.

The school offers life skills as well as a range of GCSE / Functional Skills / BTEC accreditations and entry level pathways to further education.

Criteria

  • Experience of SEN Teaching particularly sensory lead curriculum.
  • PGCE or QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • Understanding Safeguarding and child protection guidelines.
  • Good communication skills both written & verbal.
  • Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Teacher Standards and expectations.
