Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Acton, West London
Contract: 6 months initially
Hourly Rate: £39.24 p/hour – Inside IR35
Working Hours: Day Shift

About the Role

We are recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters to work on the S Stock upgrade works at a renowned railway engineering facility in Acton, West London. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of high‑profile projects within the rail sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and follow detailed work instructions and component assembly drawings
• Use hand tools, bearing press, and power tools
• Set and use a torque wrench, including witness marking
• Operate overhead cranes and workshop equipment (training provided)
• Use basic measuring tools (Vernier calipers, micrometers, rulers)
• Maintain complex systems and machinery to highest standards

Requirements

• Strong experience with hand tools, bearing press, and power tools
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions
• Experience with torque wrenches and understanding of witness marking principles
• Ability to use basic measuring tools accurately
• Previous experience in the rail industry or similar sectors desirable but not essential
