We are working on behalf of a leading main contractor to recruit a Senior Environmental Advisor for a confidential opportunity. This is a fantastic role for someone passionate about driving sustainability and environmental best practice within construction projects across the South of England. This is a roaming position covering sites primarily along the M1 corridor, with a mix of on-site and remote working. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding environmental performance across major developments from preconstruction through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide environmental and sustainability guidance during the preconstruction phase.
- Conduct site-specific environmental risk assessments and pre-start checks.
- Prepare Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and other required documentation such as Water and Nuisance Management Plans.
- Secure project-specific environmental regulatory permissions.
- Review environmentally high-risk method statements to ensure risk mitigation.
- Offer specialist support during the construction phase, monitoring site environmental performance.
- Investigate environmental incidents and liaise with regulators where necessary.
- Support maintenance and compliance with ISO 14001 and internal environmental management systems.
- Deliver environmental training sessions and lead CPD activities (e.g., webinars, forums, site engagement).
- Monitor and report on performance in areas such as water, dust, noise, and vibration.
- Promote environmental best practices throughout operational teams and the wider supply chain.
- Be a visible presence across project sites, acting as a key point of contact for environmental support.
- Experience within the construction industry or a related field.
- Strong understanding of environmental management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to assess environmental risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- A proactive approach to site support and environmental monitoring.
- Degree qualified in Environmental Science or a related discipline (ideal but not essential).
- Salary of £34,000 – £45,000 depending on experience.
