TEC Partners are supporting a leading engineering company based in Norwich who is seeking an R&D and Applications Engineer to join their Engineering department. This role supports research and development as well as customer-based applications engineering for multilayer ceramic capacitors, RF inductors, planar capacitor arrays, EMI filters, capacitor assemblies, and other capacitor types. Support is provided worldwide from the Norwich R&D centre.
The successful candidate will work within the Engineering team, answering technical queries, providing support to customers (both internal and external), conducting product training, updating datasheets and catalogues, and maintaining documentation for product approvals. This role also involves product design and development for customer-specific requirements and R&D projects aimed at introducing new products and expanding existing product ranges.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Global R&D Director.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support internal and external sales teams with technical enquiries and collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams.
- Assist offshore manufacturing with technical order handling, administration, costing, and custom MLCC design.
- Support existing test lab work and develop new or modified tests to gather data.
- Participate in new product development and the design of new or modified parts for production.
- Develop processes in support of new product design.
- Manage and assist with the manufacture and evaluation of samples for product development, including generating reports and presentations.
- Provide Application Notes, technical articles, and datasheets while ensuring the accuracy of catalogue and web-based technical data.
- Source and specify test equipment, then design and execute lab testing for technical support.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Practical experience in analogue electronics, preferably with discrete component knowledge.
- Ability to interpret customer circuits for technical discussions on passive component performance.
- BTEC / HNC / HND, BS degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with electrical & electronic circuits for laboratory testing.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent writing skills for technical documents, datasheets, and customer-focused notes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, professional, and collaborative.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- IT or coding experience is beneficial.
- Lab or test experience is valuable.
