Job Advert: Commissioning Manager (Electrical Bias)

Salary: £65,000 – £85,000 + Package

Location: Chichester (Accommodation Provided if Not Local)

Are you an experienced Commissioning Manager with a strong electrical background, looking to join a forward-thinking construction and engineering team working on technically advanced projects?

We are currently supporting a confidential client on the search for a Commissioning Manager to lead and manage the commissioning process across high-profile MEP installations – with a focus on complex, fast-paced projects in sectors such as data centres, advanced manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.

This is a key role reporting into the Project Director, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can lead multidisciplinary teams, and is passionate about delivering high-quality commissioning outcomes on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end commissioning process for MEP systems, ensuring technical compliance and operational performance.
  • Manage and support MEP design reviews, technical submissions, tendering activities, and subcontractor evaluations.
  • Oversee subcontractor negotiations, scope clarifications, and the procurement of electrical and mechanical packages.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives and support the development of project-specific technical solutions.
  • Coordinate daily activities of contractors and vendors to maintain programme and quality benchmarks.
  • Monitor project schedules, budget forecasts, and ensure alignment with contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to manage expectations and drive project success.
  • Lead risk management efforts, establish early warning systems, and maintain full project scope visibility.
  • Deliver smooth project handovers and ensure all systems are defect-free and operational.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Commissioning Management with an electrical bias, ideally within MEP-heavy projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of commissioning practices, building systems, and relevant codes/standards.
  • Strong procurement and contract negotiation skills.
  • Skilled in scheduling tools, project control systems, and budget management.
  • Confident leader with excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Familiar with fast-track construction environments and capable of managing multiple stakeholders effectively.
