Role Overview: This field-based role involves carrying out testing, disinfection, and water sampling to support the commissioning of new water distribution systems. You’ll be responsible for ensuring new infrastructure meets industry and regulatory standards, working in line with our client’s protocols and water authority requirements across multiple sites.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), and wear required PPE consistently.
- Perform pressure testing, chlorination, and sampling on new water mains and associated assets to meet compliance standards.
- Adhere to technical specifications, method statements, and client guidelines to ensure a high standard of work and system reliability.
- Understand and apply both our client’s procedures and the regulations set by incumbent water authorities for water quality assurance.
- Support the successful delivery of final and secondary (both simple and complex) service connections through accurate testing and commissioning.
- Accept, check, and prepare tools, plant, and materials for safe and effective use on site.
- Keep all assigned equipment, tools, and vehicles in safe working order and notify the Project Manager of any defects or faults.
- Recognise and report variations to the scope of work early, following internal processes for tracking deviations.
- Conduct dynamic, site-specific risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Attend site briefings, toolbox talks, and other relevant training to stay up to date with safety and technical procedures.
- Accurately complete job records and documentation and submit reports in accordance with project and billing requirements.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager, within the remit of the role.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- SHEA Water (Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness) certification
- National Water Hygiene (Blue Card)
- Demonstrable experience in pressure testing, chlorination, and water sampling on clean water networks
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Pipeline Commissioning knowledge or experience
- NCO1 Water (Network Construction Operations – Water) certification
