Are you a skilled and experienced practitioner with a passion for safeguarding children? Tameside is seeking a full-time Conference Chair to lead Child Protection Initial and Review Conferences. This is a vital statutory role where your expertise and independence will help drive forward best practice and ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.

Responsibilities:

  • Chair Child Protection Initial and Review Conferences within statutory timescales
  • Maintain professional independence from operational and line management case responsibilities
  • Conduct midpoint reviews to ensure progress and compliance in child protection plans
  • Complete Practice Review Processes to identify and challenge drift, delay, or poor practice
  • Provide professional input at legal gateway meetings and relevant multi-agency forums
  • Chair Child in Need (CIN) meetings where required
  • Undertake home visits to children as appropriate

To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:

  • Significant experience chairing complex Child Protection Conferences
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
  • Ability to challenge and influence practice constructively
  • Must be local to Tameside and able to work fully office based
  • Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration
