We are seeking a Director of Public Health for a local government organisation on an initial 12-month contract paying up to £950 per day inside IR35. This is a hybrid working role offering strategic leadership across public health, system collaboration, and population health management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Registered with GMC, GDC, or UKPHR (or within 6 months of registration)
  • Proven experience in senior public health roles within complex systems
  • Strong track record in population health, health protection, and addressing inequalities
  • Ability to lead cross-sector public health initiatives and statutory responsibilities
  • Experience managing large budgets and multi-disciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on public health strategy, health protection, and statutory duties under the NHS and Health & Social Care Acts
  • Provide strategic leadership across health improvement, emergency planning, and integrated care systems
  • Act as the principal adviser on public health matters to senior stakeholders and partners
  • Deliver annual population health reports and ensure evidence-based commissioning
